Downstairs Bathroom: Completed

The downstairs bathroom is now looking amazing:

Everyone loves the light bar. I love the marble topped vanity.

Dragon shower curtain is all Shanna. We decided to go with shower curtains because they are super easy to clean and you can change them out when you get tired of them.

Great shower with bench

Both hot and cold water handles instead of that crazy center thingy. Much easier to control water pressure and temperature.

Another look at the vanity and the additional narrow storage piece.

Upstairs Bathroom: In Process

The tile has been stripped out. In the end it was a better choice to remove the tiled floor. I also replaced the bathtub with something deeper.

New walls and niche for the shower, new tub installed and floor tile just visible.

New floor done, sink and new toilet yet to be installed. I moved the fairly new pedestal sink from the downstairs bathroom to the upstairs one.

Fabulous tile work in process.

It may look like wood but it's all porcelain tile. I can't wait till it's ready to use.

Recipe: Strawberry Peach Salad

Jen, (Amy's mom) made the best salad for the bridal shower. She bought this fabulous Strawberry Peach vinegar and added oil to make dressing. She then tossed it into a big bowl of salad greens and mixed berries. This has inspired me to start eating more salads with berries.

Here's a pic of the vinegar:

Here's a pic of the label https://www.celiasgourmetfoods.com/. Apparently, they also show up at various farmers markets, so take a look at their event's schedule.

And lastly, here's a pic of Amy holding a plate of the amazing salad.

I know, most of you probably already knew about fresh berries and vinegar/oil dressing but this was news to me. - Jenny

Amy's Bridal Shower

My niece Amy is getting married. Shanna and I were able to attend the shower.

My sisters and I bought her this set of blue roses china.
_JLS3873

Since they could not attend (the shower was in Logan UT, my sisters are in TX) Shanna and I set up a Zoom session so they could attend virtually.

Three generations: Grandmother, Daughter, Mother (plus a cousin on her father's side)

It was lovely to be a part of this outpouring of love and support. Her fiancé was there at the beginning but left after the dishes were unveiled. Many fun gifts were received and memories made.

Upstairs Bathroom: Before

They had to start tearing apart my bathroom earlier than expected in order to deal with some plumbing issues. Because of this, I did not get good Before photos. I've gone through my picture files and found a couple that can give you an idea of how it looked.

Here is the right side of my bathroom with large built-in linen cabinet, old fashioned sink, and toilet. I am keeping the linen cabinet because the heating vent for the bathroom is right under the sink. I don't have the money for a custom cabinetry sink/vanity that would work with that vent.

You can also see the soap dish mounted on the wall. It is one of two very small wooden shelves mounted on either side of the sink. The one not shown had holes for toothbrushes and for a glass and was not really useable. Originally I was going to keep this square tile floor. It's neutral and fine.

Another view of the built-in. I love the open space that works like a countertop for me.

Please excuse the mess. The flamingos were brought in from off the front porch so that they could take a shower before being stored in the basement for the winter. This is the left side of my bathroom, a tiled shower is the first thing on the left and is not visible in this picture, then the bathtub which I cover with a painted piece of wood since I don't use it often. I now have the tub filled with packing material to better support the plants and blue/green glass collection sitting on top. You can see the mauve/beige square tiles behind the plants/flamingos on the left. That is the same tile that is/was used in the shower.
